Another Spring

This has been a snowy/icy week for many of us, especially along the eastern seaboard. In fact, news outlets are reporting snow in all 50 states, except Florida (even Hawaii has snowy mountain tops).

In light of this, our CLC President, Yvonne Tracey, has shared a poem written by former CLC parliamentarian, Patricia Lewis:
ANOTHER SPRING

There’ll be another spring, you know
When we will see the flowers grow.
When dark days of winter melt away
To come, again, another day.

When birds will praise the Lord in song
For providing food all winter long.
When rains cleanse away the grimy snow—
Crocuses bursting through the ground below.

There’ll be another spring, you know
As the budding trees put on their show.
The gloom of winter will be swept away.
The sun growing warmer with each passing day.

With God’s promise of another spring
We can put away each negative thing.
As we sense the softening of the frozen earth.
With springtime, comes a time for rebirth.

Don’t let this winter of our discontent
Cause a song of joy to become a lament.
For new life and new hope, Jesus did bring.
Believe it, beloved—
there’ll be another spring.

Made By God, For God

Where could I flee from Your presence? Even the darkness is not dark to You. For you formed my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You, for You are wonderful. You know me right well. How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! - from Psalm 139

Do you believe you were made by God – and are thus always loved by God?

Martin Luther’s Small Catechism (a primer he wrote for young Christians):  “I believe that God created me, along with all creatures. God gave to me: body and soul, eyes, ears and all the other parts of my body, my mind and all my senses. God gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, and all I own. Every day God abundantly provides everything I need to nourish this body and life. God does all this because of pure, fatherly, and divine goodness and mercy, not because I’ve earned it or deserved it. For all of this, I must thank, praise, serve, and obey God.”

Being Thankful

Every day should be a day of Thanksgiving, but we can still appreciate the national Thanksgiving holiday that occurs every 4th Thursday in November. It’s a set aside time for us to count our many blessings and give thanks for all that God has provided.

Be thankful for:
  • Paying taxes, because it means you have a job!
  •  Clothes that fit too snug, because it means you have more than enough to eat!
  •  A lawn that needs mowing and windows that need cleaning and shutters that need painting, because it means you have a home!
  •  The parking spot at the far end of Wal-Mart’s parking lot, because it means you can still walk!
  • The huge heating bill in the winter and the high electric bill in the summer, because it means you are comfortable all year long!
  • Birthdays, because it means another year of life!
  • Paying your rent or mortgage, because it means you have a roof over your head to live in!
  • The complaining you hear about the government, because it means we have freedom of speech!
  • The folks in your church who sing off key, because it means you can hear!
  • The pile of laundry and ironing, because it means you have clothes to wear!
  • The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means you are alive!
  • Jesus who saw us in all our sin but still loved us and gave His life for us and then adopted us into His family!
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Listen As God Says "I Love You"

Good morning Facebook family
Woke up a little earlier than usual. Give all the credit to my granddaughter. Now we are in the middle of a stare down. Determined not to smile first, I pulled out the usual tricks, but no success. Now she's closer to crying than smiling. My brain is racing trying to think of something creative and exciting to make her smile. Then it hit me. I started to simply sing "I love you, Zyllah" over and over again. Within seconds, she laid her head on my chest and just laid still and listened to me sing.

All this just to say, God loves each of us. While we are waiting to see miracles signs and wonders, we are missing the best thing about our father, LOVE.

Listen as God says "I love you" and lay your head/worries/concerns on God's chest. Just like I did with my granddaughter, God will wrap his arms of love and affection and provide peace and protection.

Father thank you for loving me unconditionally.

Baby Zyllah
